Woakes to join NatWest Series squad

Warwickshire all-rounder Chris Woakes has been added to England’s squad for the rest of the NatWest Series with West Indies.

Woakes’ inclusion comes following the death this morning of Surrey batsman Tom Maynard, which may mean fast bowler Jade Dernbach - the one Surrey player in the party - is unavailable for the remaining games on compassionate grounds.

England, who won Saturday’s opening match at the Ageas Bowl by 114 runs under the Duckworth/Lewis method, face the tourists tomorrow at the Kia Oval and at Headingley Carnegie on Friday.

Woakes, 23, has played four one-day and three Twenty20 internationals for England, the last of which was an ODI versus Ireland in August.
