Lancashire seam bowler James Anderson will join up with the England squad on Wednesday afternoon.
Anderson will be available to play for Lancashire on Wednesday morning but will leave after lunch on what is day two of the LV County Championship match at Old Trafford against Worcestershire.
Both clubs were made aware of this possible situation on Monday, and it was agreed that if Anderson was required for England duties, then a like-for-like fully participating substitute will be drafted into the Lancashire team.
Lancashire cricket manager Mike Watkinson has confirmed that Tom Smith will be the substitute and take Anderson's position following lunch on Wednesday.
If Anderson is not named in the England Team to face the West Indies in the first npower Test match at Lords he will return to Old Trafford at some stage on Thursday and take up his original position in the Lancashire team.
