More Cardiff tickets on sale

The first npower Ashes Test gets underway at Cardiff on July 8 and more tickets will go on sale on Thursday 25 June

England fans will be given one last opportunity to attend the first npower Ashes Test match at Cardiff next month after Glamorgan released more tickets to go on general sale on Thursday.

Tickets were originally made available to the public in two stages for the inaugural Test at the redeveloped home of Glamorgan cricket, firstly in December and then March and on both occasions, the allocation was snapped up in hours.

The highly-anticipated series curtain-raiser, due to begin on July 8, is the first home Test to be played outside England and has received an unprecedented interest, with the Glamorgan website registering over 2.5million hits on the ticket sale day in March.

"The first npower Ashes Test match will be of significant importance, the first time that an Ashes Test match has been played here in Wales. We were always determined to ensure that we made the game accessible to fans and we are delighted to have been able to place so many tickets on general sale," Glamorgan’s commercial and finance director Alan Hamer said.

"A fantastic testament to the positive impact of bringing Test cricket to Wales is illustrated in our current ticket sales. Over 60% of ticket sales to date have gone to people living in Wales and the South West.

"Previously, these fans would have had to travel a considerable distance to their nearest Test ground.

"Making cricket accessible to a new audience will ensure that this match will leave a lasting legacy and in turn encourage and inspire more children to participate in cricket."
