New Zealand all-rounder Jacob Oram has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee for showing dissent during the second Test against England in Wellington.
Oram gestured towards his bat to suggest he had hit the ball after being given out lbw to Ryan Sidebottom on Friday.
Replays suggested there had been no contact between bat and ball before the pad was struck.
Oram was initially charged with showing serious dissent but it was downgraded to mere dissent by match referee Javagal Srinath after the player pleaded guilty and apologised.
