Patel earns incremental contract

Samit Patel has qualified for an England incremental contract, having featured in 10 international fixtures since the beginning of October
The ECB today announced that Nottinghamshire all-rounder Samit Patel has been awarded an England incremental contract for 2011-12.
Patel qualifies for the award by virtue of having played nine one-day internationals, five against India in October and four during the current tour of the United Arab Emirates, and one Twenty20 international for England.
Non-contracted players can earn an England incremental contract via a points system. Five points are awarded for a Test appearance and two for a T20 or ODI appearance, with an increment contract being awarded automatically once the player reaches 20 points during the 12-month contract period.
National selector Geoff Miller said: “This award reflects the contribution Samit has made to our T20 and one-day international teams this winter and we congratulate him on his achievement.”
