Pietersen signs off from Dolphins
Kevin Pietersen was not needed with the bat as his short stint with South African side the Dolphins came to an end in triumphant fashion.
The England batsman, who made a second-ball duck in the first innings, did not get a chance to make amends as the Dolphins cruised to a nine-wicket SuperSport Series win over the Titans with a day to spare in Durban.
They overhauled a target of 73 for the loss of only Imraan Khan, with Pietersen - set to bat at number four - surplus to requirements.
The Dolphins’ victory was built around Imran Tahir’s haul of 7-112 in the first innings, and 5-47 in the second as the Titans were bowled out for just 114.
Pietersen, who travelled to South Africa in pursuit of first-class practice ahead of the Ashes in Australia this winter, scored 36 in his only other innings for the franchise - in a drawn encounter against the Warriors last week.
