Middlesex have bolstered their squad for the Stanford Super Series with the signings of Neil Dexter and Neil Carter who are included in a 15-man squad for the week-long competition.
Dexter joins on a two-year contract from Kent and Carter on loan from Warwickshire until the end of December, making him available for the Twenty20 Champions League earlier that month.
The pair will cover for Owais Shah, who is in the England squad, and Australian seamer Dirk Nannes who has returned to state side Victoria.
Shaun Udal will captain the side having led Middlesex towards the end of the season. He takes over the Twenty20 captaincy from Ed Joyce who, in turn, stood in for injured club skipper Ed Smith during the Twenty20 Cup.
Joyce is included in the party but Smith, who missed most of the season with an ankle injury, is left out.
Test opener Andrew Strauss is set to face his England team-mates in Middlesex’s opening game on October 26.
Middlesex chief executive Vinny Codrington expressed his delight at signing Dexter, who had a recent loan spell with Essex, and thanked Warwickshire for their co-operation over Carter’s loan deal.
“We believe he is a major addition to our talented young squad,” he said.
“We are very grateful to Warwickshire for all their assistance in this matter.”
The squad will fly out to Antigua on Sunday 19 October to prepare for their three matches which take place at the Stanford Cricket Ground on the following dates:
October 26 v England
October 27 v Trinidad & Tobago
October 30 v Stanford Superstars
Middlesex will announce their squad for the Champions League, which takes place in India in early December, following the Stanford Series.
Middlesex squad: Shaun Udal (c), Neil Carter, Neil Dexter, Steven Finn, Billy Godleman, Tyron Henderson, Ed Joyce, Murali Kartik, Dawid Malan, Eoin Morgan, Tim Murtagh, David Nash, Alan Richardson, Ben Scott, Andrew Strauss.
