Graham Thorpe has announced he will quit cricket altogether at the end of the season.
The batsman retired from international cricket after being left out of the England side for the current Ashes series.
And now the 36-year-old Surrey player has confirmed he will stop playing competitive cricket completely at the end of the current campaign.
"I have decided the time has come for me to retire,"he told the Mail on Sunday.
"It is an emotional moment because in the main I have had a fantastic time and there are many things I will miss, but I feel comfortable this is the right decision."
Thorpe, who scored 6,744 runs during his Test career, was left out in favour of Hampshire big-hitter Kevin Pietersen for the npower Ashes Test series, which is currently tied at 1-1 ahead of the fourth npower Test.
