England have suffered an injury scare to captain Michael Vaughan in their first serious practice since the late night drinking incident over the weekend.

Vaughan played little part in the practice after tripping on a pot-hole at the Gros Islet ground during fielding practice and spent the rest of the session having ice treatment from physio Dean Conway on his right knee.

Sidelined for most of last year with problems to his right knee, which required a fourth operation to enable his return to action, Vaughan was restricted to just a handful of throwdowns and was unable to bat in the nets.

England insist Vaughan’s absence from the full practice was precautionary, but it was an untimely accident only four days before their final Group C match against Kenya on Saturday.

Seamer Jimmy Anderson, who passed a fitness test on his broken right little finger to feature against Canada on Sunday, also failed to bowl in the nets during the session.

Anderson instead had several runs around the practice ground, although England insist his absence from the session was simply to rest him.
