Wisden award for Trott
England batsman Jonathan Trott has been rewarded in his first full year as an international by being named as one of the Cricketers of the Year in this year’s Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack.
The right-hander was an expected pick after a prolific 12 months in Test and one-day cricket, during which time he helped England to series victories over Bangladesh and Pakistan last summer.
Trott joins Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal, England batsman Eoin Morgan and Nottinghamshire captain Chris Read as the outstanding cricketers in revered publication Wisden's 2011 edition.
Tamim and Irishman Morgan are the first players from their respective countries to make the list, while Read is recognised for his role in leading his county to the LV= County Championship title.
Alastair Cook missed out on selection as his Ashes heroics fell outside of Wisden’s parameters, but he has been honoured by appearing on the cover of almanack, pictured celebrating his century in the Sydney Test.
Wisden have ritually recognised five players who had the greatest impact on the English summer but they ended the long-standing tradition by naming only four Cricketers of the Year in 2011's edition.
