A match made in England

Cricket and cask beer are as synonymous with Englishness as a slice of toast with butter and Marmite.

That’s why, as the Aussies come to Blighty to contest the Ashes on British turf, brewers Marston’s, the official beer of English cricket, have teamed up with British icon Marmite to create a new blend made with Pedigree yeast. Presented in a cricket ball jar it’s sure to bowl fans over.

Marston’s marketing manager Des Gallagher said: “It’s the quintessential Englishness of both the game and the cask beer that works so perfectly with Marmite.

"Both companies were established in the heartlands of England - Burton on Trent, the historic capital of brewing, where Marston’s is celebrating its 175th year in the town.

"We’re absolutely delighted as Britain’s national drink to be able to take our support of England’s cricketers against the Aussies to another level – and by partnering Marmite we’ll take on the lager drinking, Vegemite munching Aussie fans head-to-head."

The new limited edition Marmite will see 500,000 jars exclusively made with yeast from the unique brewing process (Burton Union System) used to create Marston’s Pedigree in Burton on Trent.

Providing a special twist to that most loved and hated of flavours, the unique recipe is sure to spur on the lads this summer!

And watching the Ashes wouldn’t be complete without the traditionally British tea-break of sandwiches with lashings of Marmite and a pint of Marston’s Pedigree.

The limited edition Ashes red & white Marston’s Pedigree bottles will be available in all multiple retailers including Sainsbury’s and Tesco.

And Marston’s Pedigree Marmite costs £3.49 (RRP), is alcohol-free and will be available from June at most stores nationwide including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose & Morrison’s just in time for the Ashes clash.
