Adam Venn has been appointed as MCC's Young Cricket Photographer for 2005.
The unique photographic scholarship involves expert professional guidance from Graham Morris (one of the country's top cricket photographers), financial support (worth over £5,000) and a season-long pass to Lord's - which will be staging, among many other fixtures, Bangladesh's first Test at 'the home of cricket' and an eagerly awaited Ashes Test.
Adam, who hails from Taunton, will also cover matches involving MCC's Young Cricketers and women's teams, as well as an MCC tour of Finland and Estonia.
Venn, 22, said: "I'm delighted to have been appointed as MCC's Young Cricket Photographer for the coming season.
"It's a dream role for me. I have been fascinated by photography for seven years, and I've followed the fortunes of Somerset's cricket team for even longer.
"This MCC scholarship will give me a fantastic opportunity to increase my experience, cover a great range of matches and, above all, learn from one of the best sports photographers in the business."
In addition to an 'A' level in Photography, Venn's qualifications include a Diploma in Art and Design (from Somerset College of Arts and Technology) and an HND in Photography (from Salisbury College).
He is a clerical assistant at Somerset County Council and will begin his stint as the MCC Young Cricket Photographer on Friday April 8, when a strong MCC team will face county champions Warwickshire at the start of a four-day fixture at Lord's.
