Newly crowned ECB U17 County Champions Middlesex lost the chance of a famous double when their County Cup Final with Lancashire was abandoned due to rain.
Middlesex, who were crowned ECB U17 County Champions just three days before, won the toss at Kibworth and elected to bat first as they attempted to secure an illustrious league and cup double.
Their opening pair of Will Vanderspar and Ajay Soni had put Middlesex into an excellent position having rattled along to 76 without loss after 15 overs.
But their efforts were to prove in vain as rain forced the players from the field and the decision to abandon the match was taken at 4.15pm.
