Notts crowned U17 champions

Nottinghamshire won the ECB Under-17 County Championship with an eight-wicket triumph over Hampshire in the two-day final at Arundel Castle Cricket Club in Sussex today.

After a solid start Hampshire were rocked by Nottinghamshire’s Anuj Dal (4-39) and Usman Aziz (4-42) as they were bowled out for 231 in 80 overs.

In reply, Nottinghamshire’s Andrew Bell and Dal put on an opening stand of 70 with the latter, who made 78, going on to partner Rhys Hayes in a 90-run second-wicket partnership.

Dominic Brown, with 24 not out, joined Hayes, who finished unbeaten on 97, to guide Nottinghamshire to victory in the 76th over.
