Shropshire and Hampshire both batted first in their semi-finals and set their opponents an identical target in the Finals Festival at Oakham School - and both failed to defend their totals.

Shropshire scored 150 all out against Yorkshire on Doncaster Close while Hampshire scored 150 for nine against Surrey on the Wilson Ground. Yorkshire sauntered to victory on the main ground whilst Surrey palpably charged to their goal.

Shropshire's innings was a team effort as no fewer than eight batsmen reached double figures but Edward Barnard and Ross Aucott were top scorers with only 29. This was the main reason why Shropshire were only able to reach 150 as their final wicket fell with eight balls left in their 45 overs.

The main destroyer was Matthew Waite, who took 5-20 in his eight overs. Callum Lockett weighed in with 2-18.

Yorkshire then had a good start before Josh Shaw was out for 18 with the score on 41. After that it was plain sailing as Gallum Goldthorp (63 not out) and Ryan Gibson (50) took the score to 125 before the second wicket fell. Things then took an interesting turn as after heavy rain Joseph Carrasco (3-16) took quick wickets and the scoring rate dried up. Yorkshire after a little nerve jangling reached their target in 41.5 overs winning by 6 wickets.

Surrey's chase of the Hampshire total was much more straightforward. Dominic Sibley (52 not out) and Nathan Thorpe (68 not out) raced to their target.

They were helped on their way by Hampshire providing a generous 31 to their total with 26 wides and 5 no balls! - Surrey winning by 10 wickets in 29.2 overs.

Earlier in the day opening bowler Shehbaz Ahmad had taken 4-21 as the Hampshire batting struggled throughout their innings.
