Surrey edge out Yorkshire in tight finish
Surrey beat Yorkshire in a very tight finish to the U15 County Cup Final at Oakham School.
Yorkshire bowled Surrey out for 161 - but let the Brown Caps score some soft runs at the end of their innings with some slack bowling and fielding.
In the end this came back to bite them. Yorkshire looked well on their way to victory as opener McNichol scored 57 but a mid-order collapse from 81-2 to 118-7 then meant that the tail had to wag to reach their target.
The last pair edged towards the Surrey total but without any urgency in trying to work the ball around and they failed to put any pressure whatsoever on the Surrey field.
Surrey kept everything tight and the lack of quick singles from Yorkshire ended up proving to be the deciding factor.
Yorkshire were finally out in the last over for 155 as Surrey won the Tim Bible Cup by six runs.
