Wales and Kent strike first
Wales and Kent recorded victories on the first day of the ECB's U15 County Championship Finals Festival.
The first round of matches were played at Langtons CC and Lutterworth CC. Wales drew first blood in thrilling fashion at Lutterworth against Lancashire as chasing Lancashire's 167 for nine they recovered from the depths of 71 for six to win by four wickets.
The unbroken partnership of 99 between Joe Williams (32 not out) and Cameron Herring (53 not out) brought them a thrilling last over victory against the Red Rose county.
In the Lancashire innings, wicket-keeper Herring had claimed four victims including two stumpings whilst Jake Kings had claimed 7-61 with a superb spell of bowling.
In the other match at Langtons CC, Kent ran up a total of 225 with J Lilley top scoring with 56. Sam Johnson took 6-75 for Nottinghamshire.
In reply Notts were 113 for six but Kent were unable to force the victory as Notts finished on 179 for eight in a drawn match.
