Yorks and Surrey through
Yorkshire and Surrey made short work of their semi-finals against Somerset and Warwickshire respectively to reach the U15 County Cup Final.
The Final will be played tomorrow, Friday August 20, on the Doncaster Close ground at Oakham School.
Somerset won the toss in their semi-final on the same ground and invited Yorkshire to bat. Kris Ward batted imperiously as he strode to a magnificent century and once he was joined by Jonathan Tattersall (68) after the fall of two wickets it was clear that Yorkshire were on their way to a commanding total.
Some acceleration at the end of the innings ensured that Yorkshire reached 247 for four. When Somerset batted it looked a completely different game as the bowlers were immediately on top.
With Somerset reduced to 35 for five the writing was on the wall and the White Rose county bowled their opponents out for 85. Jack Holt (4-11) and Ryan Sharrocks (3-15) were the pick of the bowlers.
Surrey rattled up 279 against Warwickshire in their 50 overs and had their opponents struggling from the outset in their reply. Warwickshire eventually reached 185 but were soundly beaten.
