Previous winners in running
2007 champions Kent and 2006 winners Yorkshire are both through to the semi-finals of the ECB 50+ County Championship.
The draw for the semi-finals is:
Yorkshire v Cheshire
Kent v Derbyshire
Matches to be played on Sunday August 30.
In the quarter-finals Derbyshire beat Gloucestershire, while Kent won in Warwickshire by 43 runs with G Gunning (102) and J Phillips (63) their main contributors to a score of 278 for five. In reply D Gardner scored 94 but Warwickshire finished on 235 for nine.
Surrey made the long trip to Cheshire and only managed a total of 177 for six batting first. Phil Thomas (85 not out) led the Cheshire run chase as they eased to a victory by seven wickets.
Yorkshire travelled south to Essex and batting first. M Walwyn scored 75 out of the White Rose total of 197 for seven. Essex regularly lost wickets and were never really in the hunt as they were bowled out for 138, Yorkshire winning by 59 runs.
The semi-finals see a complete change of fortune on previous years as this time around three teams from the North Group have won through to this advanced stage of the competition.
