New Milton eye Lord's
New Milton have a date at Lord's in their sights after winning the Hampshire indoor six-a-side cricket championships and qualifying for the ECB's national competition.
They lifted the county trophy for the first time with a comprehensive four-wicket win over Purbrook in the Rose Bowl final.
Purbrook put 100 runs on the board through Steve Mitchell (30) and Sean Figgins (25) before losing their first wicket, but had little prospect of defending a modest 109 for four in 12 overs.
David Wheeler came off the back of an immaculate bowling spell - he took one for nine off three overs - to power New Milton forward. He made 26 before retiring in the third over.
It was plain sailing after that with Lee Beck hitting a forceful 25 as New Milton cantered home with two overs to spare.
They will visit the as yet unknown Berkshire champions in the opening ECB round.
