Entries invited for 2010
Entries are now being invited for the ECB National Club Championship 2010, which will run with one less round than in the past.
This means that the maximum possible entry will be of 256 teams. All clubs that entered in 2009 have been invited to be considered for inclusion in the competition in 2010.
As there is a move to encourage more ECB Premier League clubs to participate there is the possibility that it may well be necessary to limit the number of clubs that are included in the draw.
If this is the case then the following criteria will be used in judging suitable entries:
- Player registration carried out on the Club’s Play-Cricket site
- League and Division that the Club plays in on a Saturday
- Standard of ground and ancillary facilities
- Previous history of the Club in the competition
The draw for each Group will be seeded, as in previous years, based on the record of the club in the previous season both in this competition and in the ECB Premier League, Premier Divisions.
The entry fee for this competition in 2010 will stay at £50.
The 2009 Final was not held at Lord’s due to the high number of major matches staged at the home of cricket but was held at Derbyshire’s County Ground. At present ECB have no indication as to whether Lord’s will be available for the 2010 Final, but if this venue is not available the match will be held at a County Headquarters once again.
The 1st Round is to be played by Sunday May 16 2010. Clubs involved in 10-team Leagues are encouraged to play these matches as early as possible and one option approved of by Paul Bedford, ECB Head of Operations – Non First Class Cricket, is for clubs to utilize the Saturday prior to the start of their League season for these 1st Round matches.
Please remember that this invitation is not a guarantee that your club will be included in the competition for 2010 as the above entry criteria may have to be invoked. Applications for consideration for entry must reach the ECB Cricket Department Saturday November 28 2009.
