South North face Ealing

South Northumberland, winners in 2006, will play 1994 runners-up Ealing in the final of the ECB National Club Championship at Derby on September 18.

South North came through a tight semi-final by a mere 16 runs to reach the final against the Londoners, who enjoyed a slightly more comfortable ride against Teddington.

Bamford Fieldhouse from the Saddleworth League put up a great fight against their fellow northerners in their semi, the home side winning the toss but being restricted to 184 for eight from their 45 overs.

A spirited 38 from Jack Kelliher and 40 from Warren Hegg weren't enough for the visitors, who were dismissed for 168 inside the final over; four South North bowlers taking two wickets apiece in a good team effort in the field.

Meanwhile in Bushy Park, Ealing romped home by 84 runs, after winning the toss, batting and posting 201 for eight.

Patrick Fallis led from the top of the card with 69, ably supported by 46 from Huw Jones and 31 from Leigh Parry, Andrew Clarke taking 3-52.

But Ealing's bowlers had the last word, Afridi, Wilkin, Faraz and Patel each grabbing two wickets as Teddington were dismissed for 117 in 38.4 overs; Charl Malan's 47 their only worthwhile effort with the bat.
