Bootle CC

Bootle captain David Snellgrove, here with Neil Fairbrother, can look forward to a meeting with Chester Boughton Hall

Despite the fickle English summer doing it's best to disrupt this weekend's action in the Cockspur Club Twenty20 five of the six area finals were completed as planned.

Only with the hard work of the match managers Geoff Coish, Tony Millard, Chris Weston, Keith Tunnicliffe, Ann Boulton, everyone at Spondon and all of their groundstaff was any of this possible.

At Preston Nomads, nestled in the shadow of Devil's Dyke in the South Downs, Wimbledon came out on top against a very strong field featuring Bexley, Bashley and Horsham.

They will travel to face the winners of the South West Final between Frocester and St Just, the only game abandoned yesterday. Both matches will be played at Frocester on Sunday 5th September.

In the East, new kids on the block Oundle Town from Northants Premier League Division 2 crushed last year's finalists Cuckney by nine wickets in their final. Oundle Town go on to face the winners from Cambridge Granta, played this Sunday, which include National Club Championship finalists Ealing.

In the North, Bracebridge Heath make their third consecutive Regional Final to face the winners from the re-arranged North East Final at York, which will now be played on Sunday 5th September. This event features 2008 winners South Northumberland, the other side to make the National Club Championship final.

Finally, in the West Chester Boughton Hall were crowned champions of the West Midlands and will host Bootle CC on Sunday 5th September for a place at finals day.
