King James can reign at Rose Bowl

Cockspur Club Twenty20 finalists Bootle are hoping their international star can bowl them to glory at the Rose Bowl on Thursday.

England Deaf Squad bowler James Dixon has been a revelation for the Liverpool Competition outfit this season and his side will need another stellar performance in Hampshire if they are to lift the trophy.

Bootle have been given a tough draw against National Club Champions South Northumberland in the second semi-final with Wimbledon meeting Swardeston in the opening fixture.

"I wish James well for tomorrow," said England Deaf Squad coach Bobby Denning.

"He has developed into one of our main players with the ball and his batting continues to get better. He is a good advert for the Deaf Squad which demonstrates the level of cricket that they play at."

The 23 year old moved to Bootle from Southport & Birkdale this season with immediate success. He has taken 58 wickets this season with a best of 6-48.

Dixon has benefited from Talent Athlete Support Funding which is available to National Disability Squad members who are in full time education.

When away with the England team, Dixon uses a British Sign Language interpretor.

ECB National Disability Manager Ian Martin will be at the Rose Bowl to see how Dixon performs.

"James is a very talented cricketer," he said.

"He is a great lad and fantastic to have around the dressing room. He is a great example of deaf people integrating into mainstream society and competing at a high level in sport."
