Newport closing in on U13 success
Only a major upset will prevent Newport CC from being the first Welsh side to hold aloft the Ken Barrington Cup as winners of the MCC Spirit of Cricket Under 13 National Club Championship.
Newport take on lowly placed Harrow St Mary's on the final day of the championships at Oakham today (Friday).
The Welsh outfit put in another undefeated performance on day three, taking their tally to six wins from six games. South Northumberland and Porthill Park were the victims of the Newport juggernaut on day three, losing by 52 runs and 14 runs respectively.
Bath will be ruing their loss against Newport on day one, that being their only blemish in an otherwise faultless week so far.
