High Wycombe were crowned Under 13 National Club Champions after winning the finals at Oakham School.

The tournament went down to the wire on the last day, as High Wycombe and Radcliffe-on-Trent finished on level points with four wins apiece in the six-team finalists’ league.

High Wycombe’s superior net run rate eventually secured them the coveted Ken Barrington Trophy after a thrilling three days of cricket.

Both those sides won their fifth and final matches on day three – Radcliffe-on-Trent breezing past Hampshire-based St Cross Symondians and High Wycombe overcoming a stubborn Wolverhampton side in a high-quality, closely-fought match.

Wolverhampton’s Paveen Sudero had produced the performance of the tournament on day two, taking six wickets in three overs including a hat trick during the team’s win over St Cross Symondians.

The six teams – from all corners of England and Wales – all played each other once in a round robin league of 20-over matches, after progressing through local and regional stages to reach the finals.

Cardiff finished third with three wins, Wolverhampton and St Cross Symondians each registered two victories, while Durham’s Stockton finished sixth – out of an initial 1736 teams.
