Radlett Under 15s win Herts county title
For the first time in the history of both the Club and the Portman Building Society Under 15s National Club Championship, Radlett Under 15s won the county competition beating fives times winners Knebworth Park to progress through to the regional finals.
In the county final on Sunday July 8 at Haileybury College, Radlett CC captain Dan Cohen won the toss and invited Knebworth to bat. He took the new ball and made an immediate strike, reducing the opponents to 1-2 after one over and following up with a third in his last over. Other wickets went to Lloyd Paternott, Sahil Shah and Ben Cherkas who benefitted from some excellent work in the field, especially from Basil Letts and Olly Jackson.
Despite a captain's knock of 49 from Tom Eaton, Knebworth struggled to 98 from their 20 overs.
In reply, Radlett made a slow start as Knebworth's opening attack made early inroads restricting openers Letts and Hardain Nandhra to 21 from ten overs but this set the platform for Josh Hirschowitz to smash an unbeaten 48, with good support from Sahil Shah and Lloyd Paternott as Radlett reached their target in the 19th over.
