Damp draw at Exmouth
Devon and Wiltshire were left frustrated as final-day rain ensured their Minor Counties Championship encounter at Exmouth was drawn.
Wiltshire were 258 for nine in their second innings, with a tantalising lead of 191 at lunch yesterday, but no play was possible thereafter.
Devon captain Neil Hancock chose to bat first on Sunday and paceman Ian Bishop rewarded his decision with 7-74 from 27 overs to dismiss the visitors for 190 in 59 overs as Henry Langford top-scored with 59.
The hosts slipped to 88 for five in reply as Australian seamer Simon Branston broke through three times en route to final figures of 5-67 from 21 overs.
However, sixth-wicket pair David Lye and Joshua Bess added 91 with 66 and 78 respectively as Devon reached 257 all out in 74.2 overs.
Wiltshire opener Jayden Levitt significantly improved on his first-innings duck with 54 and number eight Andy Sutton mustered 55 not out from 200 deliveries, but to no avail.
