Durston instrumental in Wiltshire win
Somerset’s Wes Durston bludgeoned a quick-fire century to set up Wiltshire’s 84-run MCCA Trophy win against last year’s losing finalists Berkshire at Henley.
Durston’s 133 from 121 balls underpinned Wiltshire’s batting effort to equal last Sunday’s record total 334 in victory over Herefordshire.
Batting first, Berkshire recovered from 10 for two thanks to a 140-run third wicket partnership with Greg Lamb (78) and 125 with James Hayward (74) for the fourth wicket. Tom Lambert, Richard Logan and Danny Briggs took two wickets - the only six to fall.
Alex Senneck (4-35) and Lamb (4-59) took control after Berkshire made an aggressive start, to dismiss the hosts in the 47th over. Bjorn Mordt and James Morris both scored 50.
Wiltshire’s next match is against Trophy holders Devon at Trowbridge on May 17, following a weekend off.
