Wales Minor Counties and Herefordshire shared the spoils as their opening Minor Counties Championship game at Usk ended in a high-scoring draw.

Wales amassed 366 for six on the back of 85 from Dion Holden, Dan Roberts' 80 and 56 not out from Aneuri Norman, but the visitors responded by posting 441 for seven, the third highest total in their history.

Captain Chris Boroughs, who claimed 2-81 with the ball, led the way with a superb unbeaten 140, while there were half-centuries for Steve Adshead (71), Faisal Shahid (63), Harshad Patel (62) and James Ralph (57).

David Lloyd’s 116 not out - his maiden championship century - was the centrepiece of Wales’ second-innings 377 for four, with Herefordshire debutant Daniel Vernon taking 3-120 from 28 overs.

By batting for so long into a rain-delayed final day, Wales denied Herefordshire the possibility of a run-chase. Set a notional 303 to win in 30 overs, they closed on 48 for one.
