McLean bares his teeth for Berkshire
Former Hampshire batsman Jono McLean hit a stunning unbeaten century as Berkshire regained the Marlborough Cup with a comprehensive win over Wiltshire.
Having suffered an agonising final-over defeat last year, Berkshire exacted revenge courtesy of an eight-wicket victory at Devizes.
McLean’s 138 not out hurried Berkshire to a victory target of 218 with a staggering 18 overs to spare, while David Barnes weighed in with 75 in a pivotal second-wicket stand of 197.
Wiltshire’s total of 217 for seven was built around contributions of 41 and 35 from James Hayward and Owen Alsop respectively, while James Hibberd hit a rapid unbeaten 52.
Wiltshire start their competitive programme with a group match against Cornwall in the MCCA Trophy at Devizes on April 25.
