Captain Gary Pratt's unbeaten 71 guided Cumberland to four-wicket defeat of Dorset with three deliveries to spare in Bournemouth

The former Durham batsman fittingly hit the winning runs as the visitors overhauled Dorset’s 184 all out with three balls to spare yesterday.

Cumberland will have to wait until July 15 to learn who they play in the final at Wormsley on August 29 after a wet pitch prevented the other semi-final, between Staffordshire and Wiltshire at Leek, from going ahead yesterday or today.

Pratt’s side overcame a 3am arrival at their hotel to reduce their opponents to 49 for five after winning the toss on a bright day. That included three wickets for Richard Gleeson, who finished with 3-38.

Chris Park rallied with 50 until he became the first of three late victims for Chris Williams, who returned 3-43 to leave Mark Wolstenholme stranded on 43 as the hosts were dismissed with three deliveries unused.

Wolstenholme made an early breakthrough but James Lowe and Ryan Brown added 54 for the second wicket before Jack Leach had the latter caught behind for 20.

Lowe followed for 41 and Leach then bowled Liam Livingstone for nought to leave the visitors 99 for four in the 26th over.

However, Pratt used his experience to bolster the chase and, after a wicket falling in the 40th and 41st overs, put on an unbroken 42 with Williams to seal victory.
