Parsons puts Wiltshire to the sword
Wiltshire suffered a 77-run defeat at the hands of Cornwall in their final MCCA Knockout Trophy group game at Redruth.
The hosts racked up an imposing total of 347 for five from 50 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first, with Unicorns skipper Keith Parsons leading the way with 98.
Dan Davis and Matt Robins also passed 50 for Cornwall, while Sam Mount was the pick of Wiltshire’s attack with figures of 3-67.
To their credit, Wiltshire responded well with the bat, but such a mammoth target was always likely to prove beyond their reach.
Jayden Levitt and Henry Langford struck 88 and 68 respectively, but their side finished on 270 for nine, with Kelvin Snell picking up 3-64.
Wiltshire start their three-day championship programme next weekend with a match against Oxfordshire at Challow and Childrey. Goatacre’s Ed Kilbee comes into the side and will make his debut.
