Wiltshire reach Trophy semis
Wiltshire reached the semi-finals of the MCCA Trophy after beating Dorset by 22 runs at Dean Park in Bournemouth.
A third-wicket partnership of 201 between Tom Morton, who struck 132, and Joe Breet, with 111, proved decisive as Wiltshire racked up a hefty 343 for six in 50 overs.
That left Dorset requiring nearly seven runs per over, but they lost wickets quickly and were soon struggling at 98 for five as Richard Bedbrook (3-73) and Alex Senneck (2-45) tore into their batting line-up.
They continued to toil, reaching 220 for eight, until Tom Hicks and Ed Denham put on a spirited 101 for the ninth wicket in 11 overs.
But they fell short, finishing on 321 for nine, with Hicks dismissed for 93 off the penultimate ball of the innings.
