Barbosa spares Bromley's blushes

Bromley top the table after the third round of matches in the Shepherd Neame Kent Premier League adding 20 points to their tally thanks to a match saving 79 by Miguel Barbosa.

Bromley began poorly reaching 55 for five against the spirited Bickley opening pair Barry Hooper and Martin Saggers.

But Barbosa, well supported by Nick Bluett (36) and Matt Dennington (24) steadied the ship and despite Hoopers fine figures of 6-58, Bromley closed on 236 for eight.

Bickley showed little resistance against the powerful Bromley attack of former New Zealand all-rounder Chris Harris (4-12), Matt Dennington (3-25) and Tom Mees (3-25) and crumbled to 85 all out.

Bromley could prove hard to beat this season.

Hartley also continued their winning ways and are equal on points with Bromley but lie second having one less batting first win.

Runs were hard to come by at Highland Court as St Lawrence limited Hartley to 201 for nine from their 55 overs, Ben Easter taking 5-38.

St Lawrence fell 28 short in their chase, bowled out for 173 with Darrel Carter inflicting the most damage with 5-56.

Tunbridge Wells earned 20 point at the Neville against an injury depleted Beckenham side.

The home side maintained a healthy run rate of almost five an over throughout their innings of 259, Oliver Priestman top scoring with 79.

Beckenham never threatened this target and ended well beaten on 119 in the 41st over with the bowlers sharing the spoils. Beckenham need Alex Blake and James Goodman back to fitness soon to try and move away from the bottom of the table.

Bexley, perhaps underdogs on the day, pulled off a fine win over Blackheath
at Manor Way. The 139 posted by Blackheath proved way below par as Bexley cruised to a six wicket victory.

A high scoring draw on the Vine produced the only draw of the day. Gore Court amassed 330 for seven and Sevenoaks Vine made a fine spirited effort in chasing this high total ending on 308 for eight.
