From Tasmania to Toft: Josh Bean

Just one game survived the season’s first really wet Saturday which paved the way for Toft to move into the top half of the Chapel Press Cheshire Premier League after they beat Didsbury by one wicket.

A magnificent last wicket stand of 56 between Tasmanian University CC all-rounder Josh Bean and Denton Brock edged Toft across the finish line after they had looked down and out against the bottom club.

Paul Sperring’s side totalled 114 after being inserted with Phil Laikes making 46 and Bean starting his day well with figures of 5-47.

Toft crumbled to 59 for nine in reply against fine seam bowling from Andy Windle until Bean was joined by number 11 batsman Brock. The pair proceded to knocked off the runs with Bean finishing on 33 and Brock 23, while Windle finished with 7-57.

Had Didsbury taken that last wicket they would have moved out of the relegation zone.
