Fighting for survival produced a wealth of runs in the relegation clash between Farnsfield and Kimberley in the Nottinghamshire Premier Cricket League.

Nearly 500 runs were scored at Station Lane leading to a winning draw for the home side. Kimberley won the toss, chose to field and Farnsfield scored 277 for seven off their 50 overs which included a fourth wicket stand of 100 between Dave Willcock (81) and Steve Musgrove (56).

Captain Paul Franks also scored 53 and best bowling figures for Kimberley was Matt Wright’s 2-47.

When Kimberley replied their opener Carl Blake batted right through the innings only to get out on the last ball scoring a fine 119, which included sixteen fours, but the only real support he had was Jon Shaw’s 35 and the visitors finished with 219 for five, short by 58 runs.

The Farnsfield bowlers shared the honours with Brett Hutton returning best figures of 2-48.

Bottom club Plumtree were well beaten when they visited West Indian Cavaliers on their home turf. On losing the toss they were put in to bat who then bowled them out for 135 in 49 overs, Plumtree’s top scorer being Robbie Smith with 28 not out.

Cavaliers skipper Ricaldo Anderson took 4-24 in 10 overs and Orson Nurse 4-36 in 14 overs. The Cavaliers replied and reached 139 for two in 34 overs with Steve Atkinson unbeaten on 58 and keeper Aaron Thomas 44.

The other side fighting relegation, Attenborough, were away to Wollaton. Having won the toss the visitors chose to bat first and scored a respectable 244 for three in their 50 overs with Alec McKinlay unbeaten on 101 backed by Sam Clulow’s 80.

The visitors must have felt hopeful as Wollaton set about the chase but they reached 248 for seven with two overs to spare thanks mainly to Tim Young’s unbeaten 84, Ian Dodd’s 68 and 34 from skipper Paul McMahon. Best bowling figures for Attenborough was 2-40 by Martin Rayner.

The three top clubs all won with leaders Clifton Village who were at home to Cuckney, winning the toss, batting first and amassing 261 for seven in 50 overs. Liam Andrews scored 66, Danny Footitt 65 in 30 balls and Alex Hales 40.

Richard Stroh, Will Butler and Tom Ullyott all took two wickets for Cuckney who then replied and were bowled out for 219 just two balls from the end of the innings. Will Ullyott top scored with 48, backed by Francis O’Neill’s 36 and 30 from Ullyott.

Papplewick, at home to Welbeck, won the toss, asked the visitors to bat first and they made 195 for seven off their 50 overs which included a first wicket stand of 104 between Matt Higgins (92) and Martin Dobson (56).

Timoor Khan took 3-45 off 12 overs for Papplewick who then replied and raced to 199 for two in 34 overs with 107 of the runs coming in just 12 overs when Stuart Law joined opener Alex Lloyd in an unbeaten third wicket stand.

Alex Lloyd finished with 92 not out which included seventeen fours and Stuart Law was 59 not out.

Caythorpe travelled to Mansfield Hosiery Mills where they won the toss, chose to bat and made 186 for nine off 50 overs, skipper Jim Hindson scoring 55 supported by Sam Ogrizovic’s 31 not out and 30 from PK Riley.

Hosiery Mills captain Keshera Jayasinghe took 3-45 off 12 overs. As in the first innings the pitch continued to give some help to the spin bowlers and once again wickets fell at regular intervals.

Hassan Adnan came in at four with the score 34 for two, scored a dogged 60 but was bowled by Stephen Randall with nine balls of the innings remaining and the score 173 all out, Caythorpe winning by 13 runs.
