Clifton hammer champions
Clifton stormed to a hulking win over West Indian Cavaliers in the Nottinghamshire Premier Cricket League which increased their lead at the top of the table and pushed the 2008 champions down into fourth place.
The Cavaliers won the toss and asked Clifton to bat first and they scored 227 for eight in their 50 overs which included a stand of 134 between Richard Harris (74) and Liam Andrews (57).
Orson Nurse took 4-67 and Ricaldo Anderson 3-44. The home side replied but were bowled out for 118 in 44 overs, Alex Turner taking 4-23. The Cavaliers top scorer was Andy Haye with 33 and the defeat saw them slip to fourth in the league table.
Papplewick won the toss at Plumtree but putting the home side in to bat, they could only reach 91 before being dismissed in the 43rd over with wickets shared among the Papplewick bowlers.
The visitors then scored 95 for the loss of one wicket including a stand of 66 between John Wakelin (30 not out) and Tiamor Khan (31 not out),. The visitors took maximum points to go second in the table.
Caythorpe maintained their winning form in a closer match away to Attenborough who won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first. Opener Guy Welton hit 110 (14 fours) as Caythorpe posted 199 for seven in 50 overs, which included a first wicket stand of 79 with skipper Jim Hindson.
Despite a stand of 78 between Alec McKinlay (67) and Shaun Fitzgibbon (58) Caythorpe managed to bowl the home side out in the last over, Stephen Randall taking 4-59. Maximum points earned the visitors third place in the table.
Cuckney were at home to Farnsfield and were put in to bat after losing the toss. They made 231 all out in the 50th over which included an eighth wicket stand of 95 between Tom Ullyott and David Hunt with Richard Stroh also contributing with 44.
Lewis Saxby took 5-59 for the visitors who then toiled away to reach 189 for six in their 50 overs to claim a losing draw. Michael Bell scored 42, Phil Creswell (40 not out) and David Loveridge (33 not out) sharing an unbeaten stand of 87 at the close. Will Butler took 3-45 for Cuckney.
Mansfield Hosiery Mills travelled to Welbeck who won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first. Hosiery Mills made 204 for nine in their 50 overs with Hassan Adnan scoring 54 and Joe Caunt 35.
Guy Darwin took 5-46 for Welbeck, supported by Martin Dobson’s 3-47. The home side replied but could not reach the target, finishing on 193 for nine in 50 overs for a losing draw. Matt Higgins top scored with 47 and shared a 70 stand with Guy Darwin (23), James Brice also scoring 31. Keshera Jayasinghe finished with 4-41 and Kieron Garside 3-59.
Kimberley were hosts to Wollaton who chose to bat first on winning the toss. They scored a creditable 281 for five in 50 overs with stands of 84 for the third wicket, between Scott Elstone who made 99 including 10 fours and two sixes, and Ed Savill (42), then 97 for the fifth wicket between Elstone and Tom Savill whose unbeaten 81 included seven fours and four sixes.
The home side could not match the required rate but saw their overs out, reaching 204 for eight at the close with Nick Langford smashing 69 with four fours and three sixes and Jon Shaw 37 which included eight fours. Wollaton’s Nick Ellsmore took 4-64.
