Deane puts wind up A & B
On another soggy spring Saturday, all but one top-flight game was cancelled and Chesterfield stole a march on their Beechwood MG Premier League rivals with a thumping win at Alvaston & Boulton.
Michael Deane grabbed three early wickets after A & B were asked to bat and they never properly recovered despite a gritty Steve Stubbings half-century.
Ben Slater and Paul Burdett produced a century opening stand in response to A & B’s 158 and Chesterfield eventually romped home by nine wickets in only 27 overs.
The result leaves A & B languishing in 11th place but Chesterfield have an advantage of 11pts at the top of the table ahead of second-placed Denby.
