Hatchett job earns East Grinstead second
Sussex Premier League Champions Preston Nomads ended their triumphant season with an impressive victory at Cuckfield while East Grinstead secured the runners-up spot thanks to Lewis Hatchett's 5-14 against Eastbourne.
Horsham had a full quota of Sussex professionals to help them beat Three Bridges and Brighton and Hove finished the season very strongly by beating Hastings to clinch third place.
Carl Simon of Preston Nomads took his wickets for the season to 62 with figures of 7-57 to send Cuckfield tumbling to 144 all out of which Nick Patterson hit 48.
Nomads won by four wickets at 145 for six with Hugo Shepherd hitting 47 and Rob Wakeford 44 as Nick Patterson took 3-54.
East Grinstead dismissed Eastbourne for just 61 at The Saffrons with Lewis Hatchett taking 5-14 and two wickets each for Will Adkin and Cullen Bailey.
Gary Kleinveldt made 28 as Grinstead made 65 for one from only 12.1 overs.
Luke Wells led the way for Brighton and Hove as he hit 64, Matt Machan made 50 and Patrick Spencer 44 in a total of 196 all out at Hastings for whom George Campbell took 4-68.
Hastings were dismissed for 178 of which Toby Finzell made 71 and Harry Finch 41. For the winners, Luke Wells took 4-51 and Josh Poysden 4-38.
Chris Nash, testing out his leg injury after missing the last two Sussex Games, hit 69 for Horsham in a score of 291 for eight declared at home to Three Bridges.
Michael Thornely with 54 and Will Beer, who made 67 made it success all round for the young professionals and Devon Endersby added 45, Jigga Parekh was the most successful visiting bowler finishing with 4-97.
Mark Newell made top score of 94 as Three Bridges were dismissed for 185, Mark Nash taking 5-62 and Will Beer and Michael Bates took two wickets each.
Jack Simpson hit a hurricane 112 including 17 fours and two sixes in a Haywards Heath total of 204 all out at home to Lewes Priory, Michael Murray taking 5-58.
In reply Lewes were bowled out for 196 with 74 from Jon Aspden as Hayden James took 4-37, JJ Davies 3-52 and Scott Sharma 3-25.
