Kimberley go top

No record totals were recorded in the second round of the Notts Premier Cricket League but all six games resulted in straight wins with Kimberley recording their second victory to take a three point lead at the top of the table.

Kimberley, at home to Welbeck, won the toss and put the visitors in to bat. Despite a stubborn 10th wicket stand of 51 between Lee Brooks and Marchant, Welbeck were dismissed for 169, Martin Dobson top scoring with 37.

Jon Shaw weighed in for Kimberley taking 6-43 and keeper Dan Mason pocketed five catches. Kimberley replied with a useful stand of 48 between Mason and Nick Langford, Mason scoring 62 including eight fours and a six. Skipper Mick Blatherwick was unbeaten on 34 to help the home side to 170 for five and a subsequent five wicket victory that secured them top place in the league table.

Clifton Village travelled to Farnsfield and on winning the toss chose to bat, posting 199 all out in 49 overs. Richard Harris (35) and Anthony Hart (34) top scored with Hart sharing in a seventh wicket stand of 57 with Simon Roberts.

Farnsfield’s Lewis Saxby took 4-47. The home side could not match Clifton’s scoring and were dismissed for 97 in 38 overs with Glynn Edwards having the best score of 25. Liam Andrews finished with 4-14 and Simon Roberts 3-18, Clifton winning by 102 runs.

Mansfield Hosiery Mills won the toss and chose to bat at home to West Indian Cavaliers but could only score 130 all out in 45.2 overs, Matt New the highest scorer with 28. Michael Millwood took 4-41 and Ricardo Anderson 3-29. Cavaliers paced their reply, having four additional overs, and ran out winners by three wickets with a total of 131 for seven in 51.4 overs. Dominic Williamson was unbeaten on 35.

Wollaton were at home to Plumtree who slumped to their second defeat having chosen to field after winning the toss. Wollaton made 170 for eight in their 50 overs, Scott Elstone unbeaten on 51. Jurgen Charlesworth took 5-33 for the visitors who were then shot out for 75 in 27 overs, Nick Ellsmore doing most of the damage with 6-19.

Cuckney travelled to Caythorpe where the home side won the toss and asked Cuckney to bat. Runs seemed hard to come by and the visitors reached 159 for eight in 50 overs with Richard Stroh scoring 37 and Tom Ullyott 35. Tom Hemmings returned the best figures for Caythorpe with 3-19. The visitors total proved too much as Caythorpe were bowled out for 99 in 34 overs, Stroh looking a handful with 4-30 and skipper Will Butler 3-40 to win by 60 runs.

At Papplewick, John Wakeling made a useful 50 to steer his side to 189 for nine in their 50 overs but Tom Murray countered with 3-25. Attenborough replied but were left wanting as Papplewick bowled them out for 148 in 46 overs, Bradley Matthews and Tiamoor Khan both returning 3-21 and helping to secure a 41 run win.
