Lullington rose to the top of the Beechwood SAAB ECB Premier League but there was everything to play for as they thrashed leaders Sandiacre to take maximum points.
Ockbrook grabbed 22 points from Ilkeston but stayed second, just five behind the leaders and the same number ahead of Sandiacre with two games to go while Chesterfield and Spondon both edged draws against the bottom two, Elvaston and Dunstall, while A&B moved away from danger with a win at Quarndon.
Spondon made the trip to Dunstall where they collected 16 points. The visitors hit 210 for seven with efforts from Ben Ashdown, who put in a man of the match performance with 66, Ollie Baum who made 63 and Chris Windmill who added 30.
Dunstall shipper Martin Clewley finished with figures of 3-44 assisted by Scott Chilman who took 3-65. In reply, Dunstall were two runs short of beating the Spondon total as they made 209 for eight off their 50 overs.
Jeremy Polich top scored for Dunstall with 42 whilst Scott Chilman (36) and John Jennings (37) also contributed. Spondon’s Joe Ashdown took 3-60 restricting Dunstall to 11 points.
Chesterfield remain in fourth after gaining 17 points from their visit to Elvaston. The away side made 330 for five in 46 overs before declaring with Ross Whiteley hitting 147 in his man of the match performance.
Joe Cooper also scored high as he made 101, whilst Andy Mc Carroll finished unbeaten on 32. Elvaston took 10 points from the match and remain in the relegation spot despite using up the 54 overs allocated to ensure Chesterfield did not get the win.
The hosts finished on 291 for seven with Matthew Archer hitting 48, Charles Ault making 63, Joe Cooke adding 70 and Richard Johnson getting 32.
Chesterfield’s Simon Lacey finished with 5-50 however his side could not find the remaining three wickets for the win as Elvaston took 10 points.
In a top of the table clash at Lullington Park, the home side did enough to trade places with their opponents putting them top of the table.
Lullington batted first and made 196 for five with Sam Eaton hitting 40, captain Jonny Shales adding 44 and Richard Green reaching 39 not out of their 50 overs.
Sandiacre’s Dan Wheeldon finished with figures of 3-39 with Sandiacre looking positive heading into their innings.
However, Lullington’s attack had other ideas as they bowled out the visitors for 122. In the 39 overs Lloyd Hobson made 42 not out for the side however Graham Dent (3-44) and the rest of the Lullington bowlers ensured their side went to the top of the table with a 27 point win, leaving Sandiacre with just two points which pushed them down to third.
Ilkeston Rutland took three points from their meeting with Ockbrook this weekend as they were bowled out for 142.
Ilkeston’s Tom Brandrick top scored for the side with 48 whilst Kevin Dean finished with figures of 4-21 for Ockbrook.
Ockbrook’s response came in 33.3 overs as they reached Ilkeston’s total hitting 145 for four. Contributions came from Matt Cassar with 30 and Jonny Guthrie who played a man of the match innings with 70 not out to ensure his side remained second in the table.
Quarndon hosted A and B with the home side only gaining three points from the tie. Quarndon were bowled out for 168 with Robin Williamson top scoring with 37 in his sides 49 overs.
Alvaston and Boulton’s Andy Gray finished with figures of 4-27 with Walker assisting taking 4-49.
In reply, Alvaston and Boulton reached the total set by Quarndon in 38.1 overs, the side were 172 for three at the close with Andy Gray hitting 56 and Hassan Adnan finishing on 74 not out to help A and B to 22 points.
