Mallards fly high
Mallards returned to winning ways in the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League this week with a 62 run victory over new boys Burwell.
Mallards batted first and made 250 for nine declared from 60 overs, thanks in the main to 67 from Usman Asghar and 51 from Peter Free.
Wickets were shared around with Robin Kemp, Merrick Fuller and Frans Bester claimimg three each. In reply, despite 77 from Grant Flower, Burwell never really threatened to win the match.
Paul Bradshaw showed them how to bowl with an impressive haul of 5-16 from 11 overs while last week's centurian Danny Jones got a second baller.
Bury made light work of beating Fakenham at The Victory Ground. Bury won the toss and invited Fakenham to bat first and were rewarded by bowling them out for 113 in 40 overs.
Only Stephen Gray (33) and Phil Gray (17) reaching double figures. The wickets were fairly well spread, but Tom Huggins 4-8 from nine overs caught the eye.
Bury got home in the 28th over with Huggins (37) and Klokker (24) the men dismissed before Chris Warn (22 not out) and Nick Lee (24 not out) saw them to a comfortable win.
At Vista Rod, Clacton and Granta drew wwth Granta making 198 for eight from their 66, having at one stage been 100 for one from 25, with Mark Bott making 50 and Richard Hesketh 41.
For Clacton, Tumi Masekela grabbed 6-34. In reply only youngster Ben Foakes (77) got going but he did not have much support with only Martyn Cull and Ben France reaching 20 amogst the other Clacton batsmen.
Matt Friedlaner bowled tidily for his four wickets as Clacton fell 15 runs short of victory.
As I said last week, it's going to be a long sumer for Halstead. This week they were thrashed by Horsford for whom Chris Sabburg made 103 out of their total of 234 all out in the 66th.
Jed Cawkwell batting at number three for Halstead was the only player to reach double figures with 20 not out, as wickets tumbled around him and the hosts were bundled out for a paltry 65.
Chris Brown with 4-11 from 11 overs was the most successful of the Horsford bowlers.
Despite a century from Carll Rogers (127*) 86 from James Spelman and 50 from Sam Arthurton, Great Witchingham could not force a win over neighbours Norwich.
Rogers and Spelman shared an opening stand of 152 as the Witches racked up 304 for two after their 66 overs.
Norwich openers Harry Bush (51) and Olle Higginbottam (48) also posted a century stand but 100 without loss quickly became 116 for five as the upper middle order was blown away.
Horsley (30) Baldwin (25) and Blake (23) steadied things before old stagers Aaron Watson (24 not out) and Paul Wiseman held on for the draw. James Splan completed another good all round day with 3-36 from his 18 overs.
