TwelfthMan: My account
Irthlingborough Town continued one of their worst runs since the mid 1980's as they lost by five wickets to Old Northamptonians CC in the Hevey Building Supplies Northamptonshire Premier League.
Captain Ross McClean won the toss for ON's and had no hesitation in inserting Boro on a track offering plenty of bounce. Mark Brown opened up with Martin Hills and they were soon having their resolve tested by the odd short ball and by the new ball seaming around.
Brown survived for five overs but when McLean was replaced after his back gave way David Willey immediately had him spooning to mid off for a 12 ball 0.
After a lot of hard work on Saturday morning the game between Finedon Dolben and Rushden started on time with the Rushden skipper William Liptrot finally winning the toss.
In helpful conditions Finedon were 54 for four after 15 overs but recovered mainly through Jack Chopping's 65 off 65 balls, Chris Todd (27) and skipper Chris Goode (47 not out). Olliver Woodhouse bowled tightly in two spells to take 3-32, supported by Aqab Ahmed with 3-55.
Will Sneath then proceeded to destroy the Rushden innings with a superb spell of 17-8-21-6 (including three wickets in one over) which reduced them from 39 for two to 41 for seven.
He was well supported by Chopping (2-20) and Goode (2-22). Only Tony Jupp (28) and Tom Smith (12) reached double figures in a disappointing batting performance which handed Finedon an emphatic 168 run victory and brought Rushden's four-game winning sequence to an end.
