Ockbrook's unbeaten run comes to end
Lullington Park brought Beechwood Saab Derbyshire Premier Cricket League champion Ockbrook and Borrowash's 13-month unbeaten League run to an end with a nail-biting one wicket win.
Sandiacre moved to just two points behind in second with a maximum points win over Matlock, while Chesterfield stay fourth with an easy win over Dunstall.
Spondon made the best of a draw at Alvaston and Boulton while Ilkeston had an easy win at Elvaston and Alfreton played for a draw at Quarndon.
Spondon took 19 points away from their visit to A & B. The away side put on 236 for eight in their 50 overs with Ollie Baum hitting 63 and Dave Hartley assisting with 37.
A & B’s Andy Gray finished with 5-55 however his side could not reach the target set by Spondon in the following innings.
Alvaston and Boulton made 173 for eight with a man of the match performance from Hassan Adnan who contributed 80. Ben Perry-Taylor added 31 and Spondon’s Ben Ashdown finished with figures of 3-40 to reduce A & B to eight points.
Dunstall’s trip to Chesterfield saw them take away just a single point as the hosts bowled them out for 142.
Dunstall’s James Benstead hit 52 and Carl Eyden made 34 however Matt Higginbottom finished with figures of 4-25 for Chesterfield with Michael Dean assisting with 3- 30.
In response, Chesterfield made 145 losing only Drage Thompson who scored 36, whilst Ben Slater contributed with 79 not out to help his side receive 22 points.
Elvaston hosted Ilkeston and made 185 before losing all of their wickets, due to a five wicket haul from man of the match George Moulds.
Moulds took 5-29 for Ilkeston whilst Joe Cooke put 66 runs on the board for Elvaston. Ilkeston reached their required total in 30.3 overs making 188 for two.
Contributions from Lyndell Richardson (69 not out) David Smit (60) and Tom Brandrick (31 not out) helped secure the 22 point win for visiting team, leaving Elvaston with four points.
Lullington looked on form in their home match against Ockbrook & Borrowash, the 2009 champions who were bowled out for 133 in 47.3 overs despite the efforts of Hallock who made 44.
Man of the match Alan Gough finished with figures of 4-43 for Lullington. The hosts left their victory surge until late managing to scrape the win with four balls to spare and one wicket in tact as they finished on 134 for nine.
Andy Goodwin added 36 for Lullington and Steve Attenborough finished with 4-15, however this effort was not enough to prevent Lullington gaining 22 points to Ockbrook’s five.
At Quarndon the home side put 202 runs on the board against Alfreton losing seven wickets with Robin Williamson top scoring with his unbeaten 54 and Matt Dowman falling one short of a half century.
Smalley took 3-72 for Alfreton who responded with 131 for six. Andy Gwatkin hit 30 not out for the side and Matt Linekar contributed with 51 whilst Matt Dowman finished with figures of 3-44 reducing Alfreton to six points while Quarndon left with 17.
With Ant Wooley’s man of the match performance of 95, Sandiacre were pleased with their victory over Matlock. The hosts Sandiacre put on 251 for seven off their 50 overs as contributions came throughout the order as James Chapman made 72 and Lloyd Hobson hit 31.
Matlock’s Pete Camm had an expensive day as he took 4-86. Sandiacre then dominated again bowling Matlock out for 148 three balls short of the close of play.
Kevin Leatherday hit 44 for the visitors however, Dan Wheeldon took 3-46 and Lloyd Hobson finished with figures of 4-49.
