Parkin strikes for Sandiacre in rain hit round

Bad weather, which caused so much havoc in 2008 returned to cause more disruption in the Beechwood Motor Group Derbyshire Premier League with only two of the six matches completed.

Sandiacre Town did not let the rain interfere with play and took the full 27 points from their meeting with Rolls Royce.

Sandiacre made 165 for nine in 50 overs with David Jordison scoring 32.

Amir Iqbal took 3-50 whilst in reply Rolls Royce were 94 all out in just 35.5 overs. Ian Parkin was in electrifying form and took a competition career best 5-9 while Ryan McFadyean finished with 3-26 leaving Rolls Royce counting the cost and collecting just four points.

Quarndon and Lullington took eight points a piece from their rain affected match.

Quarndon batted for the full 50 overs to make 186 for five in 50 overs with Matt Dowman putting in a fine performance with 102 and Graham Wagg contributing 40 runs.

Alan Gough finished with figures of 3-47 and in reply Lullington were 30 without loss before rain stopped play after eight overs.

Dunstall made 167 for eight in their 50 overs against Alfreton thanks to Carl Eden who hit 83. Joel Wylie took 3-44 for Alfreton who were 74 for three in 19.1 overs before rain stopped play, giving both sides eight points each.

Alvaston and Boulton were luckier with their weather and took 27 points from the match against Aston. Making 205 for eight in 50 overs, Steve Stubbings helped with 74 and Yasser Tariq assisted him on 48.

Fazal Kahn took 3-66 for Aston. The away side only collected three points when they were 75 all out in 22.1 overs. Yasser Tariq featured again taking 4-25 and captain Steve Ottewell finished the day with figures of 5-17.

In what ended up being a timed match, Spondon took 10 points from the meeting with Chesterfield who bowled out the home side for 188 in 48.5 overs, Oliver Baum hitting 32 and Simon Lillie 31.

Brian Gladwin finished with figures of 3-28 for Chesterfield who were frustrated by the rain reaching 129 for four in 29.3 overs before the rain came leaving them just 11 points better off.Alex Hibbert finished unbeaten on 46.

Ockbrook hosted Ilkeston but the match was eventually abandoned due to rain. made 241 for seven with Matt Cassar top scoring on 95 and substantial contributions from Jonny Owen (51) and Trevor Smith 46.

Ilkeston replied with 141 for five in 41 overs with Dave Smit hitting 30.
