Not for the first time in this soggy season, the rain again decimated the Premier League programme in Nottinghamshire with five games being washed out without a ball being bowled.

Five games washed out

Only one started and that was eventually abandoned without a result being achieved. The top versus bottom clash at Langwith Lane between Cuckney and Worksop started on time but ended up being abandoned after lengthy hold-ups due to more rain.

Home skipper Will Butler called right at the toss and opted to bat first. Cuckney completed their 50 overs with the score on 280 for two with Butler starring with a first century of the season, finishing on 110 from 135 balls.

He put on 164 with Adam Burgess (82) for the first wicket and later, Nick Langford hit 62 from 41 balls as the Cuckney batters got in some useful time in the middle ahead of their ECB National Knock-Out tie against Chorley on Sunday and the Nottinghamshire Twenty20 Finals Day at Trent Bridge on Monday.

After all the delays, there was little time for Worksop to bat but their nine over innings also gave Cuckney the opportunity to grab an additional bonus point as they closed on 56 for three with Gareth Pursehouse being one to fall for 32.
