Smeeth's ton floors champions
On an opening day full of runs in the Jolly’s Drinks ECB Cornwall Premier League, there were wins for Falmouth, St Austell and Werrington.
Werrington made 229 for nine at Truro with Ben Smeeth making 116 and Tom Sharp taking 6-56.
In reply the champions were dismissed for 145 to lose by 84 runs.
Falmouth looked in trouble at home to Troon but Antony Angove made a match winning 108 not out to see them to a two wicket win.
Earlier James Rowe made 93 in Troon’s 204 all out.
St Austell dramatically won a superb game at Camborne with eight balls to spare.
Camborne totalled 256 for seven with Sam Pooley making 74.
St Austell replied with 257 for six with Gary Bone hitting 76.
Paul’s last pair survived the last five overs at Callington to force a draw.
Callington made 239 all out and Paul ended on 215 for nine with Andrew Libby taking 6-67.
St Just looked to be denied victory at home to Grampound Road when heavy rain set in around six o’clock in the far west.
Chris Hunkin made 121 in the Road’s 239 for five.
St Just raced to 194 for one in just 26 overs when the weather intervened leaving David Roberts unbeaten on 87.
