Three big tons at Barrow Turn
Barrow Turn witnessed a feast of Beechwood MG Premier League runs on Saturday with Derbyshire duo Alex Hughes and Chris Durham propelling Swarkestone to a mammoth 354 for three declared against Quarndon.
Hughes made an unbeaten 155 while Durham finished on 101 not out but not to be outdone, Nathan Dumelow, with an unbeaten 155 responded in kind for the visitors who closed on 281 for three.
Both sides remain unbeaten in 2012 with Swarkestone increasing their lead at the top to 14pts. Quarndon, however, slip into the relegation places after Spondon hauled themselves off the bottom of the table by thrashing Rolls Royce Leisure who are now 21pts adrift.
Back at the top Lullington Park closed on 210 for nine chasing Ockbrook & Borrowash’s 213 all out and had to settle for a haul of 13 points but they remain second.
Ockbrook move up one place to sixth. Also on the up are Sandiacre Town who eased to victory over Alvaston & Boulton to move into a threatening third spot.
In a condensed mid-table, where only 24 points separate second and eleventh places, Chesterfield halted their recent slide by getting the better of a draw with Ticknall and the two sides remain fourth and eighth respectively.
And at Denby, the home side closed on a perilous 241 for nine chasing Dunstall’s 249 for six in another close-run draw.
