Truro wasted little time in recording a nine wicket win against Grampound Road who are languishing at the bottom of the The Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket League table with the entire match lasting only 50 overs.
The 'Road' were dismissed for 100 despite being in a promising position at 66-3 with Mpho Sekhoto making 31. Aaron Pennell took four of the first five wickets and ended with 5-34 from 16 overs while Tom Sharp took 4-11.
In reply, Tim Marrion (26) added 58 for the first wicket with Chris Martin who went on to hit 47 not out with the winning runs being struck in the 16th over.
St Just strengthened their position at the top of the table with a six-wicket win at Werrington. After being put in, the home team made a poor start losing their first four wickets for 39. Mark Hodgson rescued the innings to make 89 not out, including two sixes and 10 fours.
Joel Keenan made 22 as Werrington reached 178 for 9 in 55 overs with Adam Barrett (4-43) and Robert Clackworthy (2-28) doing much of the demolition work. David Roberts (63) and Neil Curnow (62) added 131 for the first St Just wicket before both were dismissed in the space of six runs. Matt Robins took 2-31 but Gary Thomas (19 not out) and Gareth May (23 not out) guided the champions home with over 15 overs to spare.
St Austell moved off the bottom with a surprise win at Falmouth. The home side got off to a good start as Adrian Noott (65) and Antony Angove (47) put on 83 for the second wicket after the early loss of Steve Williams.
The rest of the batting chipped in with Sean Turner making 20 in the 208 all out in 53 overs. Simon Ellison took 4-35 and Gary Bone 3-57. Sean Hooper, on his return to Trescobeas, opened with 38 before a third wicket stand of 101 won the game. Matt Rowe made 68 and Dan Jarman, on his return, made 69 not out. Jon Udy took 2-23 as the 'Saints' reached 212-4 with three overs remaining.
Newquay did well to win at Paul by 98 runs. At one stage, Newquay were 10 for 3 but recovered well through Adam Cocking (37) and Barry Purchase who went on to make 93. Scott Steward hit 20 in the 202 all out.
Anthony Hosking and Tom Hyslop both took three wickets. Neil Ivamy then took three for 19 and Rob Harrison three for 27 as the home side were dismissed in 38 overs for 104. Kelvin Snell made 31 and Dave Twigg ended on 24 not out.
